Barbara’s involvement with ICCS began when she took the volunteer training program several years ago. On a tour of the various ICCS facilities she was profoundly touched by the staff, residents, and purpose of Samaritan House. Through her women’s group she initiated monthly breakfasts at Samaritan House. It was important for her to show those women that there are people in the community that care about them.
Volunteering is in Barbara’s blood. In her early 20’s she became a Big Sister, later a volunteer at Woodlands (New Westminster), a Guide Leader, a member of various PTAs, a Church Elder and Sunday School teacher, and taught sewing at an after-school program at Georgia Avenue School. She is currently on the Board of ICCS.
Barbara is passionate about her community and the people in it. She is committed to the work of ICCS, and shares that with all those with whom she comes into contact.
