As an organization that strives to support our clients and community in innovative ways, Island Crisis Care Society has been actively engaged over the past year in seeking out opportunities in which to further reach our mission in a sustainable and dynamic way. Though efforts have been made to reduce the factors that cause homelessness in Nanaimo and Parksville, the need for support continues. ICCS is working to find new ways to support client wellbeing and recovery.
One thing we have heard across our programs, as well as from our broader community, is that those we support need a chance to find meaningful connection within the community; to move in from the margins of society and find their own purpose, passion and connections.
As a non-profit organization, we are also keenly aware of the dynamic and often challenging financial position we operate within. We deeply value the support of our funders and donors which continue to sustain our programs. At the same time, we recognize that to create stability within our organization we must actively work towards financial sustainability through diverse and consistent revenue streams, adding together many kinds of support to ensure the best possible programming for our clients – addressing their needs wherever they are on their road to hope.
With these goals in mind, and our continuing mission and vision guiding the way, ICCS has taken the bold and exciting step forward of moving into the realm of Social Enterprise through the creation of Rising Hope Services Inc. and the purchase and planned social purpose conversion of the Nanaimo Bakery & Confectionery Ltd., located at 2025 Bowen Rd. as a new branch of support for our clients and programs.
