Danielle’s journey with Island Crisis Care Society (ICCS) has been one filled with hope, connection, and a deep sense of purpose. For her, the most rewarding part of volunteering is seeing real, tangible change happen in the community, even if it’s one small step at a time.
“In the midst of the opioid crisis here in BC, it can sometimes feel like progress is out of reach,” she shares. “But with ICCS, I see hope. I see people being treated with empathy and dignity, and I see lives being touched in meaningful ways.”
Danielle speaks passionately about the environment ICCS creates — one of support, encouragement, and genuine care. She says, “Volunteering with ICCS has truly been an honour. The way they uplift not only those they serve but also their volunteers and staff is something really special.”
She describes ICCS as an organization that leads by example, treating everyone from service users to volunteers with kindness and respect. “They show us how to foster real connection. It’s inspiring and refreshing,” she says.
So, what would Danielle say to someone thinking about volunteering with ICCS? “Do it. Take the opportunity. You’ll become part of something that’s not only impactful but also full of heart. I’m incredibly thankful to be part of this work, and I think others would be too.”
Danielle’s experience is a powerful reminder that even small efforts can create big waves. In a world that often feels uncertain, compassion and connection are always worth showing up for.
