Volunteer Spotlight – Lisa

Lisa came to ICCS with no prior knowledge of the organization, but a strong desire to find meaningful purpose in retirement. That search led her to volunteering, and quickly to a place where she feels both valued and connected.

From her very first shift at the Drop-In Hub, Lisa found the experience welcoming and rewarding. She recalls enjoying the opportunity to meet and work alongside the team, as well as connecting with the individuals who come through the space each day. On that first day, she helped serve food, beverages and supported the sorting and distribution of donations. She left feeling useful, appreciated, and glad to be part of the work being done.

While Lisa shares that she does not have one single standout moment from her time volunteering so far, the overall experience has been deeply meaningful. It has given her a renewed sense of community and a clear sense of purpose in her day-to-day life.

For Lisa, the most rewarding part of volunteering with ICCS is knowing she is contributing to a space that supports an underserved population. She recognizes the importance of providing consistent care, dignity, and access to resources for those who need it most.

Her message to anyone considering volunteering is simple: give it a try, you will be glad you did.

Lisa believes ICCS plays an important role in the community by helping vulnerable individuals stay connected and supported. She sees its impact in helping people move toward stability and in creating opportunities for individuals to re-engage with the community in a more positive and supported way.
